Flicks & Swizzle Sticks – Women in Action

I was joined by two good friends for my first themed show where we discussed the ever increasing role of women in action films. We chose four films to discuss, the documentary Double Dare, Kill Bill Vol. I, Haywire and The Descent. There should be something for everyone to enjoy in this episode, whether you like Kung Fu, excellent stunts, or a damn fine horror flick. Be serious, who doesn’t like at least one of those things?!?

My drink of the evening is called Motorboating Gina Carano, and I swear it is crazy delicious, and somewhat dangerous. Terribly apt, I think. Here’s the recipe so you can drink it immediately. I promise you won’t be disappointed!

1 shot Rum, spiced
1 shot Vodka
1/4 Cup Apple Juice
1 tsp. Grenadine
1/2 Cup Peach Nectar

Shake ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into glass. Although, I just poured it all into a tumbler and stirred, so the shaking is unnecessary unless you want to.

The Rev enjoyed the Wonder Woman, so if you’re looking for some layered goodness, check it out!

2 oz Midori
2 oz peach schnapps
3 oz orange juice
2 oz cranberry juice
1 oz pineapple juice

Carefully layer ingredients, in order, into an ice-filled hurricane glass. Serve unstirred, garnished with a cherry.
