Bar Rag – Best of 2012 Award!

header1.jpgThat’s right! Andy got tired of Cocktail Hour being the only damn entity not giving away an award so we came up with one. We want you to pick the best Cocktail Hour episode posted during 2012. The award is open to all shows – Cocktail Hour, Flicks & Swizzle Sticks, Bar Rag, Last Call, and Conversations at the Bar.

Just post a comment with your favorite and a short reason why you like it. We’ll pick two voters to win their choice of Cocktail Hour t-shirts. We’ll even send one to the author guest, if there is one on the selected show.

Get your vote in no later than May 17th and we’ll announce the winners on the show we record on the 18th.

Andy and I want to thank you, our wonderful listeners, for making Cocktail Hour just so much damn fun to do! Now get to voting!

***You spoke and we listened! You can now place your vote for one episode in each of the three categories: Cocktail Hour Episode, Flicks and Swizzle Sticks, and Bar Rag/Conversations at the Bar/Last Call with Colette Moody***

Oh! Only one vote per category. You can change your vote but only one per category, per person.

  1. I have to say the Conqueror’s Episode. I am holding my hand over my mouth from adding more though….there are SEVERAL!! I am particularly fond of your first episode also, because you guys were so cute!!

  2. Sorry Pix – No Conqueror show in 2012. I added a list off all eligible podcasts into the post. I think that will help everyone.

  3. Can I pick 2- the Bar Rag were you all helped raise money for Caring For Kara. Deserves a Community Response award.

My second choice is Episode 52 with Ann McMan. It’s hard to pick one show. I know it’s a lot of hard work but you both make it sound like a bunch of fun times. It sounds like your guest appreciate your efforts.

  4. I am going to pick ep 46 Gone Girl. My first comment was on the buddy read thread for Gillian Flynn. That lead me to find Cocktail Hour.

    • For Flicks & Swizzle Sticks I am going with Christopher Guest. It was a tough choice between that and The Greatest Movies I’ve Never Seen, but since I purchased “Best in Show” it got my vote.

Bar Rag is hard because I loved all three with Bev and both of Colette’s Last call. My vote will go to Bev Prescott on exercise.

  5. Pat – you can now pick two. Actually three, but only one in each category. Check out the post above, again. I’ve changed it to reflect this and also grouped the episodes for easy browsing.

  6. UGH! I can’t pick just one! That makes me indecisive doesn’t it? Oh, hell, I vote for the “Overall One Hell Of A Show” award…I know, it only exists in my world, but I’m happy in that world damn it! Love you ladies, keep up the good work!

    • You can vote for one in each category. Does that help?

I know it’s tough to pick just one but it really makes me feel great that it IS so hard to choose!

  7. I vote for myself, because I came on the show. If you listened to it, you know what I’m talking about. Grin

  8. I know my opinion doesn’t actually count at all, but my favorite Cocktail Hour from last year was Melissa Brayden. I thought that show was hilarious. For the other, I might have to pick the 80’s music discussion with Moody.

If I had to pick my favorite Flicks show I’ve done, I’d have to go with The Greatest Movies I’ve never seen. I’m not sure whether it was the booze, movie choices or the company (maybe a combo of the three?), but that one was just particularly fun.

    • My vote doesn’t count either but that’s what I would vote, too! I agonized over the episode choice and there were a few that were really close but Melissa was just so damn funny and I didn’t expect that at all. It was just genuinely so much fun.

All I can say about the F&SS is thank goodness for Citizen Kane!

      • Me too! I went back and forth a few times, but the Melissa show was just so much fun to listen to. It always helps when you can tell that you guys are having so much fun as well.

ACK CITIZEN KANE. Every one of my show movie rankings will have Citizen Kane at the bottom.

  9. Cocktail Hour Episodes: TBA. I am still deciding by re-listening to many of them. I just heard Andy purr for Patsy on the Meghan O’Brien episode!

Flicks and Swizzle Sticks: The Greatest Movies I’ve Never Seen

Bar Rag: 80’s Music Discussion with Colette Moody

  10. In addition to my favorite CH episode, here is my favorite Bar Rag and my favorite Flicks and Swizzle Sticks:
Bar Rag – Roselle Graskey & Caring for Kara
Flicks and Swizzle Sticks – Women in Action

  11. You guys sure don’t make this easy:

    •Episode 48 – Winter Pennington

•Flicks and Swizzle Sticks – Halloween

•Bar Rag – Roselle Graskey & Caring for Kara

  12. Ok Bar Rag- Caring for Kara
    Episode 52- Ann McMan
F & SS- Movies I never watched. I still can’t believe Nikki never saw those movies.

  13. I’m tossing my vote in for Episode #52 with the devine Miss M., Ann McMan. Mostly because I was in the background making faces and taunting her by having a second Cosmo while she tried to sound “authorish.” Call it ‘quid pro quo.”

  14. You can absolutely vote for your own episode. You’re not the only one and that’s just fine. It was a great, great episode!

  15. Hi!
I have my votes, it was really tough to choose! but I’m going with:
Episode 41- Radclyffe because she is my all time favourite author
Flicks and swizzle sticks- the evil dead, even though i have not seen these films yet but im about to check them out soon 🙂 i chose it because I love Bruce Campbell he was great in xena! 😀
Bar rag- Laurie Salzler because I loved the reading she did, which made me buy her book I keep meaning to read. 🙂 can’t wait to see who wins!

  16. My favorite review episode: Episode 34: Meghan O’Brien
Favorite Bar Rag – Political Chat with Colette Moody #1

  17. Well, my obvious one for Bar Rag is Roselle and Caring for Kara (considering that’s me) I didn’t know you guys did an episode on it. I have to go back and listen to it but I know I love Roselle to death and anyone and everyone connected to the auction was fabulous! It meant so much to me! So much more than I can say!

My choice for episode is D Jordan Redhawk One of my favorite authors!

thanks for this and good luck to all,
    k

  18. Thanks for your votes, Kara! You’re fabulous, too, and I’m very proud to have been able to be a part of the auction. I’m very much looking forward to meeting you in person soon.

    • Thanks so much Cheri! I’m really looking forward to that too! I can’t wait to be able to say thanks in person and give hugs to some of the people who made such a difference in my life! I’m so excited!
      very big hugs, kara

and yeah, love Jordan among many others also!
