  1. I have yet to read anything by Chris yet, so I did not listen to the podcast yet. I have added this to my “to be read” pile.

  2. Great show guys. Didn’t know that about Claudette Colbert. I haven’t read any of Chris’s books, but I love baseball, so I’d want to start with Playing for First. Cheers!

  3. Awesome show! The book was awesome and I was so excited when it won at the Goldies. I was glad I was there to witness the event. Meeting Chris and The Lovely Miss Phyllis was the best! As soon as my college classes are over, I will read her others!

  4. Really enjoyed the show. As I have only read SBHLC,(which I loved*sniff*sniff) I will now start from the beginning….with Playing for First….Love ya Chris and goooooooooooooo Reds!

  5. Technically, I went through a roll of TP and not a box of Kleenex, so you are off the hook for reimbursement. SBHLC is slightly ahead of And a Time To Dance for favorite books, but more importantly I am inspired to read all the other books. Next up: Come Back To Me.

  6. Great episode! I have read Playing for First and thought it was a good book. I am looking forward to Survived By Her Long Time Companion. Some times you need a good crying book! and this one sounds like it fits the bill, especially if Andy was bawling!!!

  7. I have to admit, I didn’t read any Chris Paynter book yet. I’ve been looking at the cover of SBHLC since forever but the title just scares me. I know I would cry myself dry. I should check out one of the other books though.

  8. I also haven’t read any of Chris Paynter’s work, but I’ve wanted to try her books for a while now. I listed to the show since I don’t mind spoilers too much. It was interesting to hear how the title of “Survived by Her Longtime Companion” came about before the book. Looking forward to reading it.

  9. loved this show! so funny, 😀 i have not read anything by Chris yet but again its on my list! my list just keeps growing,

ill be happy with whatever book, they all sound really good.

and Andy as a glasses wearer myself, i so know what its like when your glasses steam up from crying, its not great! especially when you are reading a book, that’s only happened to me once.

    🙂

  10. Loved this book so much, this is one of my favorite books, it was well written and the characters were so real and smart and I also think Eleanor was my favorite character although Bailey and Chelsea were special. Overall a great read
