About

The idea to do Cocktail Hour came from a few conversations Andy and I had with some other folks about doing a podcast where we talk about stuff we read. An audio review, essentially. I had already created the blogspots for Lesbian Fiction Review and Fan Fiction Review and was pretty burned out on writing my thoughts out after reading. Talking about what I’ve read, while having a drink, seemed like an idea I could get behind.

Of course, actually doing it was completely different. I’m good on ideas, bad on follow through. But Andy is a very persistent woman and before I knew what was happening, we were recording. I’ve got to say, I’m happy we are. I’ve gained a friend out of the deal and have gotten to get drunk on a whole new group of drinks! With the booze, the friends, and the good reads, what more could I want?

Cocktail Hour has grown so much since our first show. We now have a forum, a Goodreads group, a Cafe Press store, and a phone line that allows our listeners to record question and comments for the shows 747-224-7763 (747-2CH-PROD. We’re hosting writing contests, have loads of great guests, provide a venue for our listeners to get information about their projects out into the community, movie reviews and even more stuff in development.

Thank you all, so much, for helping us!

  1. I’m so happy I found your site! It’s wonderful to listen to your podcasts and recall the stories you’re discussing and learn about titles I’ve missed. I look forward to many more editions!

I’ve been reading Uber and original fiction for more years than I’d like to admit and I buy just about anything that comes out in ebook format. I haven’t purchased a paper book in at least 4 years and have converted at least 250 online stories to Epub format. You want the entire Exposure series as an ebook – I got it.

    Keep up the great work!

  2. Thanks Katelyn!

I had to laugh about Exposure – I spent I don’t even know how many hours copying and pasting to compile that one for my reader! It was well worth it.

Welcome, and thanks again for your kind words. 😀

  3. Katelyn, the download at the link site is that just for PCs? Or will it work for a Mac, too?

Rev – you have a compiled version of Exposure and haven’t shared? 🙁

    • Andy & I have been members of VLR for quite awhile. Lots of great folks over there. And thanks for stepping up to help Jeanine out! You’re doing a great job!

  4. This is just the coolest show ever! I am addicted and you’ve convinced me that I really need to read Shadows of the Soul by Melissa Good, so I am putting that on my iPod now. Looking forward to all future shows.

  5. Hi,
I am a new listener and love it !
How can I get older podcasts?
Also you refer several times about books you have reviewed…is there someplace I can go to see these and also Books that one (or both) of you that have authored.
Like I said, I’m new to this site (and Podcast) and would like more.
    Keep up the great interviews.
    Thanks,
    LJ

    • Hi LJ! So happy you found us! You can listen to every single episode ever recorded right here on the website. On the sidebar, you can use the “category” drop down menu to locate specific authors and categories of shows or you can use the search box on the top right side to enter the name of authors or topics to see if we’ve done a corresponding show.

I’m not a fiction writer but Andy has a couple of short stories that you can read by clicking on the “reading” link on the top of the page.

Thanks again for listening and for your kind words!

  6. I really like the ‘cast and eagerly await the next episodes.. I find these great books authored by wonderful women… and hardly any of them are offered in AUDIO! The text to speech programs are ok for working on a computer but tend to make even the best book impossible to swallow. Maybe you could mention to your guests that there really IS a market for audiobooks… and a lot of us already have everything audible has to offer so we would jump on something new…

Once again I ramble.. so hard to stay focu… oh look! a BUNNY!

  7. Hi, I just started to listening to your show on YouTube while I am at work. I have found maybe 10 shows on YouTube. Where can I find the others?

  8. When is your next interview. Is there a schedule. I’m just able to play former conversations

    Sue
