Flicks and Swizzle Sticks Now Playing – Moonrise Kingdom

And introducing, Flicks and Swizzle Sticks super special ‘Now Playing’ feature! This is for those of you that are looking for something to check out while it’s still on the big screen, unlike the regularly themed shows featuring mostly gems from my DVD collection. Keep on the lookout, cause there’ll be plenty more where this came from due to my insatiable love of all things cinema!

I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Moonrise Kingdom at our local AFI theater and absolutely loved it. It’s a standard Wes Anderson flick, with the actors you expect (Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, etc.), and if you know his other films, you are already familiar with his trademark retro style and underplayed humorous dialogue.

So, take a listen and see if this is something that would be up your alley. And for those of you that liked the Royal Tenenbaums, the Life Acquatic, or the Fantastic Mr. Fox, “run, don’t walk” to your nearest indie theater and watch this. You will not regret it.

Drink of the evening- a delicious Yellow Tail Cabernet/Shiraz blend, reminiscent of the tasty red I enjoyed at the theater. That’s right, independent theaters often give you wine to drink! So go to one! Posthaste!

I hadn’t even heard about the movie until I listened to your review! I think I just might try to watch it this weekend. Hopefully it’ll make me smile 😉 . And Frances McDormand is one my favorite actresses EVER!

“Don’t chisel that shit in the stone..”

    Thanks, you two!

Frances McDormand is an entire bucket of awesomesauce.

If you don’t like it, feel free to smite me
