Episode 49 – Catherine Lundoff

What could be better than hanging out with one of my favorite people and chatting about books? Having a delicious margarita and a prolific, witty author join us, that’s what! Andy is on vacation this week so the lovely and talented Megan agreed to join me to talk with Catherine Lundoff about, mostly, her book Silver Moon (A Women of Wolf’s Point Novel). You can get more info about Catherine and her work at her website: http://www.catherinelundoff.com/

Catherine suggested the Virgin Strawberry Margarita but I preferred the Fallen from Grace version. Here’s how you can make either one. Megan broke the rules and had a smoothie so I’m not posting her recipe here. If you want it, you can post a comment asking for it and she can enter it. Damn rule breaker.

Virgin Strawberry Margarita
1 can frozen limeade concentrate, thawed (6 ounces)
1 package frozen strawberries in syrup, thawed (10 ounces)
3 cups water
3/4 cup orange juice
1 can lemon-lime soda pop, chilled
Blend with ice.

Ultimate Frozen Strawberry Margarita (I stole it from allrecipes.com)
6 fluid ounces tequila
2 fluid ounces triple sec
8 ounces frozen sliced strawberries in syrup
4 fluid ounces frozen limeade concentrate

Directions
Fill a blender with ice and crush. Pour in the tequila and triple sec. Add the strawberries and limeade. Blend for 30 seconds or until smooth. Serve in margarita glasses with the rims dipped in powdered sugar. (I skipped the powdered sugar step.)

During the discussion about Catherine’s other works, she mentioned that Megan actually has a short story in the anthology Haunted Hearths & Sapphic Shades: Lesbian Ghost Stories. And mostly because it will make Megan uncomfortable, I’m including the info for that book here, too.

Just finished it. I couldn’t see the narrator as anyone other than Megan. Such a romantic! Also a little creepy.

Thanks, Nikki! And thanks for doing the editing while Andy’s out with the loads of women on a ship.

Holy shit, I used to be an archaeologist too! Hello fellow shovelbum!

      • Catherine Lundoff / Sep 17 2012 10:26 am

Oh cool! I still miss it on really nice days. :-)

        • Nikki / Sep 17 2012 1:42 pm

Me too. But I miss it less when I get a regular paycheck and health insurance!

Just in case anyone is curious my smoothie included: fresh strawberries, a few leftover blueberries and rasperries, and vanilla yogurt. Put is all in the blender and … uhm … blend. Voila. It was yummy and I didn’t slur my words. :)

    • Rev / Sep 16 2012 8:32 pm

      I didn’t slur, I just couldn’t remember what I wanted to say.

Loved listening to Catherine’s processes, and great job interviewing without giving away any spoilers. (Haven’t read Silver Moon yet but it’s the first book I’m reading on my vacation next week.) And by the by, Catherine, this reader’s very happy Silver Moon isn’t a romance. Plenty enough of that already, so very refreshing to have a different plot focus. Thanks much, ladies.

You rock! (not that this was in question!. :-D Have a lovely vacation and I hope you like the book.
