The Rev and I pilfered AFI’s 100 years…100 movies list to handpick four movies that neither of us had seen, but had always meant to. Being the self-proclaimed movie buff that I am, I was not a little bit embarrassed to find how many of those I hadn’t seen. For this episode we chose Citizen Kane, All About Eve, To Kill a Mockingbird and Dr. Strangelove. Now, I feel slightly more educated, and better able to speak intelligently about the classics. And for an extra super special bonus, you get to hear us lament on the use of random bird squawks and an unfortunate nickname for lady parts. You’re welcome!
So do your best to protect your bodily fluids from the Communists and appreciate the genius (and so-called genius) of Hollywood from days gone by.
We celebrated the brilliant acting in All About Eve with the cocktail Bette Davis Eyes. Fair warning, it’s a bit of a sugar shock. We’d recommend dissing the soda for tonic or something a bit less intensely saccharine.
1 oz vodka
1/3 oz blue curacao
1/3 oz Malibu coconut rum
Fill with lemonade/lime soda
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker/stirrer and pour into “an unusually shaped glass” like this one!
Add crushed ice and decorations, if you please, and enjoy!

Does this mean that everyone agrees with us that Citizen Kane was painful? Because no one commented. Which says to me in my brain “Nikki, you are indeed right. That movie was incredibly boring.”
Thank you for agreeing with me by your silence, populace!
