Flicks and Swizzle Sticks – Coen Brothers

The Rev joined me, Nikki, to discuss our favorite Coen brothers movies, only to discover that we need to do a whole other show for Coen brothers 2.0! I enjoyed one too many bloody mary’s and not nearly enough olives while tipsily rambling about Raising Arizona, Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou, and Blood Simple. And, we successfully had our very first giveaway! Keats, you win the movie of your choice from those discussed on this show. Congratulations and thanks, everyone, for your emails and calls. Keep em coming!

The next show will be next month and we’ll be having another giveaway for that one, too! All you have to do is comment on this show what your favorite foreign language film is, and you can win your choice of Kung Fu Hustle, Le Vie en Rose, High Tension or The Good, the Bad and the Weird. Really, you can just comment and say whatever the hell you want. I’m not picky. And you have all month to do it! You can also email me at Nikki@cocktailhour.us with your responses or call 747-2CH-PROD (747-224-7763).

So rustle yourself up a tasty bloody mary and I hope you enjoy the show! Darn tootin’!

3 parts vodka

2 parts tomato juice

1 part lemon juice

Add dashes of Worcestershire sauce, tabasco, salt and pepper and your favorite garnish (OLIVES!!!)

    • Sure, why not! I’ve seen it, but not from start to finish. I feel like I’ve seen the same parts 5 times. You’ve inspired me. Imma watch it!

  1. Ok so favorite non-english movies that I can think of would be The Orphanage and Amelie. Sooo there ya go!

    • Excellent taste, sister! Now I am seriously wishing I had chosen those. BLAST! There’s still time, I could totally change my mind, right???

  2. Non-English movies… So many to choose from. I like The Myth (2005), Chocolate (2008) and The Twins Effect (2003)

  3. You will love it, it fits your humor.

My favorite scene is the one with the tree, the birds, the gun and the crazy Arabic guy. The tennis dude is just creepy.

And every time I hear “How deep is your love”, I think of this film.

    Watch it!
