Episode 61 – Laurie Salzler

rightHey there listeners! Laurie Salzler spent a bit of time with me and Andy this afternoon to chat about her upcoming book, Right Out of Nowhere. We talked about some other stuff, too, and Laurie is giving away an autographed copy of the book so be sure to get entered to win! All you have to do is post a comment telling us what your favorite part of this show was. This show. The one you’re either about to listen to or have already listened to. Episode 61. I mean, if you want to go on about how awesome the show is, in general, that’s cool, too, but be sure to mention something about this one. Comments must be posted no later than March 22nd.

Laurie did pick a drink called The Irish Car Bomb but none of us actually drank it. Andy wasn’t feeling well and Laurie was calling from her car. I was the only one who didn’t have a great excuse. I’ve got to say, I think it’s been awhile since I’ve been chewed out by an author. That’s right, spankings will be given but not until 2014 in Portland. So, to enjoy The Bomb, you take a shot of Bailey’s Irish Creme and drop it – glass and all – into a glass of your favorite dark beer and then chug it down. To be fair, I don’t like dark beers and I did drink a glass of Irish Creme on the rocks while we recorded. So there.

Be sure to get over to Laurie’s site and check out what she’s doing! http://lauriesalzler1.wordpress.com/

Hope you love the show and we can’t wait until next time when it’s just me and Andy and some fan fic! Woot!

  1. Rev, it’s good to know I’m not the only one that would go for the mom.
As always, Cocktail Hour rocks! Hi, Laurie! Counting down to PTown!
***Don’t put me in the running for the copy. I plan on purchasing one as soon as it’s available.

  2. You guys are an f’ing hoot! I love listening to you! Wish I could go to GLCS, but not gonna happen this year, maybe P-Town! OK, can’t comment on the book, obviously, but it sounds good from what I’ve heard. I have an idea for you…why not have listeners call in and sing the chorus of their favorite song? Then you won’t have to try to get each other to sing. Who ever you use cold get some swag that week. (Got mine in the mail, by the way, thanks!) As far as some suggestions on fan fic, I will have to research this for a couple hours…gotta check my files, ya know? OK, I guess that’s it since I can’t answer WWYF…oh hell, could I name someone from something else I’m reading? Let me know!

  3. Hi Laurie – Loved listening to your voice here in the UK, in fact that was my favourite part of the show . So looking forward to your new book and want to add too that your bird and animal pictures on FB are always a highlight of my day – as are the tales of life on the farm for you and Linda. You are both truly blessed.

  4. I know one of the ladies hates dark beer, Was drinking just the Baileys. And that Laurie talked about Stetson and his health scare. All in all a good chat. But Laurie needs to stop calling in from parking lots.

    • LOL. I had actually gone to a place that had free WiFi so I could Skype with them. But the connection was really bad so we had to resort to my cell phone. I’m hoping to find a better place for future talks.

  5. Enjoyed the show and you all did a good job of dancing around the book without giving too much away. I like the ability for folks to call in a question. And was glad this question was about Stetson. I do hope Laurie will be able to call from home someday. I kept waiting for a police officer to tap her window and ask what she was doing. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thanks for the comment, Pam. One of my very favorite things about Cocktail Hour is getting feedback from listeners and guests. It makes a huge difference to me and Andy – and Nikki, too – to know that folks are really listening and enjoying what we’re doing.

Thank you for being one of the listeners to call in. I can’t wait until we have loads of calls to play!

  6. Love the Cocktail hour and Laurie being one of my favorites – I can’t wait for Right out of nowhere… I have read a Kiss Before Dawn a few times and just finishing it up for the 3rd. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. My favorite part of the show was hearing Laurie talk about how well her horse had recovered. It’s always great to have a happy ending ๐Ÿ™‚
Looking forward to reading the book when it comes out.

  8. I’m a fairly new listener. Enjoying what I’ve heard so far! It was interesting to hear that Right Out of Nowhere is a bit different in style than A Kiss Before Dawn. I loved A Kiss, but this one sounds fantastic too. Can’t wait to check it out!
