I’ve been a fan of Amy Dawson Robertson’s for a long time so I was very excited that she wanted to join me and Andy to chat about her newest work, Midnight In Orlando.
While we did chat about Midnight in Orlando, we also talked about Miles to Go, what Amy’s got coming up, bathroom etiquette, and the state of lesbian fiction. Andy and I had a fantastic time and can’t wait until ADR’s ready to come back to talk with us some more. Her drink selection was good, too! The Saketini. You can make one at home, it’s easy. Chill your cocktail glass, put a few cubes of ice in a shaker, pour in 1 1/2 oz of vodka, 3/4 oz of sake, shake the hell out of it and pour it into your chilled glass. Andy and Amy garnished theirs with kalamata olives but I forgot to get some so I used large Spanish olives and they were delish! So there!
Amy has offered up two ebook copies of Midnight in Orlando for a couple of our lucky listeners. All you’ve got to do is leave a comment about one of the numerous things we mention at the end of the show. You’ve got a load of options! I don’t even remember them all and the Saketini isn’t helping that situation. You’ve got a month to get your comments posted since we haven’t decided if we’ll have a show to share after we get back from GCLS. Comments posted on or before 7/12/13 will be eligible to win. Good luck!
Oh! Here’s the link I promised so you can get entered to win one of three ebook copies of Lois Cloarec Hart’s Walking the Labyrinth: http://ylvapublishing.wordpress.com/2013/06/14/walking-the-labyrinth-now-available-from-smashwords/
Click here to download a sample or buy Midnight In Orlando. It’s only $2.99 so there’s no reason not to grab a copy. And if you’re going to GCLS, get your copy and read it on the way there. It’ll get you in the mood!

Levenger! See me rolling arounf on the carpet with the catalog clutched in my hand.
I am going to follow Andy and Rev into the hotel restroom at GCLS and verify their behavior.
Catalogers… “bibliographic control….” Yep, it counts. But don’t worry, Amy, I am terrible at stalking. Um, ignore that comment above about following Andy & the Rev into the hotel restroom.
Listening to this episode brought back images from the book. I forgot about some of the quirks in the book. I may have to go back and read it again. Andy & Rev your commentary and interaction is awesome together, I laugh at you so much. Thanks for introducing me to your site.
Amy! So happy you’re enjoying the shows. Normally, I’d say you should be laughing WITH us but, in with Cocktail Hour, it’s totally fine to laugh AT us. ๐
And congrats on winning Grand Theft Equine! I hope you enjoy it.
You’ve got me laughing this morning, Nancy Jean! And I think you should definitely confirm Andy and Rev’s claims.
Thanks for having me on, you two. You’re wonderful hosts and I had a terrific time!
I agree with Amy-not-the-author: I need to reread the story before GCLS. Amy-the-author, the breadth of your writing really does impress me. Not everyone can write both bad-ass action books and stop-my-kindle-while-laughing stories. I look forward to “Midnight with the Bearded Clam.”
Also, because it is driving me crazy that I cannot edit… *around
It’s tough to choose which is my favorite Amy Dawson Robertson novel. She’s definitely one of my go-to favorite authors. But, push come to shove, I would say Miles to Go is my favorite even though I’ve enjoyed them all. She has a unique and refreshing voice in the lesfic genre. She is among the best of the best and no, I don’t mind at all. ๐
I loved Midnight in Orlando. It was so funny, I was sorry that I wasn’t going to Dallas. I approve of Andy’s selection for Who would you fuck. I have Midnight so if I should be chosen please gift it to someone who needs to lighten up.
Aw, thanks so much, Bev. Phew! So glad you don’t mind. It’s good to have you as an inspiration for a Susan. Someone has to keep Nic grounded!
Lol, Pat! I’m glad you liked the book and if you get chosen could I send you an ebook of either of my other books?
That would be nice. Your Miles To Go is our book read of the month, so I don’t have your second novel.
Thank you.
Love this episode and the book! I’ve never been to a con, but the book totally made me want to go to a GCLS. For the record, I’m with Amy and Andy and I’d pick Nic. ๐
Anyhow, since I already have Midnight in Orlando, no need to include me in the drawing.
You’re welcome — good luck, Pat!
Glad you liked it, Lisa. ๐ I can give you the same deal if you win! And you should go the conference sometime!
Love this episode ๐
I just tried to chat a bit in restroom after hearing this, awkward but nice though… yippi, i’m otw to be social person.
Sorry, never read amy before, but will add to my reading list..
Trin – remember, you need to wear pants if you’re going to socialize in the restroom.
Definitely give Amy a shot. You won’t regret it. Good luck in the drawing and see you on the forum!
Glad you enjoyed it, Trin. ๐
Aaah… fine, i’ll wear pants.
But andy never mention about wearing pants when she answer phone in the bathroom.
And I like when andy said, once she go andy, she dont go back…
Thats good one! Lol
Thanks Amy, i’ll read you soon.. Ur book i mean.
I do wonder what gcls would be like.
Thanks, I hope you enjoy it! GCLS is super fun — go if you have a chance.

Well as for who I would fuck ๐ it would be Nic also for the same reason Andy said, she is quirky and extremely funny, bedbugs ha! That was great, and sleeping in the bath ๐
I would love to go to GCLS one year it sounds so awesome, I so wished I lived in America instead of England, travel would be much easier ๐
Oh well maybe one year ill make it!
Ach, hi again, Carrie (just wrote you at Goodreads) — poor you with your jaw! Thanks for listening and best of luck with winning. Hope you can make it to GCLS one of these days — it is super fun! (Many of us wished we lived in England!)
P.S. Anyone I’m not friends with already, feel free to friend me on Facebook.
Hi again Amy! ๐ I just accepted your friend request On good reads!
My jaw is better now, I can smile and laugh again without the Pain ๐
I will be thinking of attending GCLS at some point in the future I have to go at least once! Lol
That’s funny because I wish I could live in America ๐
Glad to hear it. Pain is no good! Thanks for accepting my friend request. ๐ Looking forward to seeing more of your reviews. Maybe we all want what we don’t have. LOL.
No it really isn’t, unless its tattoo pain that I can handle because I have loads ! ๐ lol
And ill definitely be putting out reviews of every book I read ๐
Cool! It’s great for everyone to hear other’s feedback. ๐
I am patiently waiting for the Orlando sequel. Amy, did you plan to write a third Rennie Vogel book?
I agree, it’s absolutely amazing that you are the same person that wrote Midnight in Orlando and Miles to go. Sooo different and yet both very good!
Hi Alena — Thanks for being patient. ๐ I’m really trying to get the Orlando sequel out before summer’s end. I don’t have any immediate plans for the third Rennie book. I do have the primary plot idea for it in place, so it could happen one of these days. It is very different writing the two genres. I really enjoy both in very different ways but the romances are much less time consuming!
I really like Miles To Go & Scapegoat. Haven’t read Midnight in Orlando yet, but it sounds fun…
Thanks, Cindy. ๐
