Welcome to another episode of Flicks and Swizzle Sticks with me, your host, Nikki. I want to thank you all for continuing to listen to me jabber on about movies that I like. Keep it up and I’ll do my best to keep you entertained! A big congrats to Pixiey for winning the giveaway for her comment on the Cult Classics show from last month. Pixiey, your copy of Rocky Horror is in the mail and I hope you enjoy it!
Tonight, Mike joined me to talk about SciFi movies that you probably haven’t seen, but should! We pilfered “best of SciFi” lists online and selected the following three movies, none of which I had ever seen: Dark City, Moon, and Brazil. They were all interesting, even when they were confusing. Spoiler alert! Brazil was my favorite hands down, but give the show a listen and see if you agree with me.
Want to win a free movie from tonights podcast? Just comment below and let us know what your favorite under-appreciated SciFi movie is, or just say hi! I’m not picky.
Tis the season for pumpkin beer, so we enjoyed a tasty New Belgium Pumpkick. So go grab your favorite pumpkin ale and go on an adventure with us!

I really enjoyed Dark City. Bonus – Jennifer Connelly sings a damn fine sexy song, too! Haven’t seen Brazil, but have it on my list. Great show, Nik.
Thanks Andy! Dark City was great. So interesting!
Even if it wasn’t Jennifer’s voice – still worth watching. Enjoy, again. ๐

Right? She was like Jessica Rabbit (that is most definitely a compliment!)
I’m a massive fan of Brazil – Dark City is moving to the top of movies to watch once I get the dvd player set up again.
I think you’d like it Megan. Let me know what you think!
What a fun show!! Thank you for my awesome movie!! I am going to have to say I have not seen any of these, but Dark City is the one I am going to check out first!! Tell Roxie (hopefully spelling that right) that I said hello and need to see a picture of her on your fb wall!! =)
Glad you liked it Pix! Roxy hates cameras but I will do my best for you!

I bloody loved this show! Even though I haven’t seen any of these yet!
They sound good, and OMG Jennifer Connelly is HOT! ๐
Your were hilarious as always!
WALL-E! I freaking love that movie, I think you definitely need to do a show on it ๐
I’m SO looking forward to the next show! ๐
Thanks, Gooch! Wall-E will definitely be on a show, I loves him ๐
an older good sci-fi movie that I would recommend would be soylent green
Excellent recommendation, good luck on the drawing!
I enjoyed the show! We have Dark City and Moon and think both are brilliant! Never seen Brazil but now have it on my list to check out. I will have to think of some older sci -fi movies. Soylent Green was a good choice from amy.
Gonna have to check out Soylent Green. I hate that I already know what the spoiler is!
That is a bummer that you know the spoiler, but soylent green is still one of those old sci-fi must sees.
I’ll just convince myself to forget it!
Dark City is one of the few films I own on DVD. I love to watch it with people who have never seen it before. The creepy people remind me of the Buffy episode Hush’s The Gentlemen.
Brazil… crazy about it. The first film I ever saw multiple times in a movie theatre.
And you’ve convinced me to watch Moon.
Also, I have walked outside with a cat on my shoulder. But not near a busy intersection.
Let me know what you think about Moon! Yeah the intersection is CRAZY busy. That lady was nuts.
My favorite of the three is Moon. I second Amy’s recommendation of Soylent Green! My all time favorite SF movie is still Blade Runner.
Can you believe I still haven’t seen Blade Runner all the way through? I know, it’s awful.
Really? Do yourself a favor and see all of it! And it’s a great movie to talk about since its main theme is: what makes us human ?
Will do, and I may have to add it to a future SciFi show. Good luck in the drawing!
I haven’t seen any of those yet. Was wondering about Dark City already, but now really want to see them all. Thanks for bringing them to light.
It was really very interesting. Good luck in the drawing!
