That’s right, Super Pretty aka Melissa Brayden aka Crazy Helpful was our very special guest on this episode. Officially, we’re talking about Melissa’s brand spanking new book, Heart Block but she and I spoke about her first book, Waiting in the Wings, for just a few minutes while Andy ignored us. Not in a rude way, she just hasn’t read it yet so didn’t have much to say.
Anyway… Andy and I enjoyed Heart Block tremendously so the conversation is lively and Melissa was an absolute pleasure. This has been one of my favorite shows and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Melissa suggested our cocktail, Kentucky Mule, and it certainly was kicking us by the time the show was wrapping up. I was surprised by how tasty it was since I’m not a brown booze sort of woman. I highly recommend it!
1 1/2 ounces of bourbon
Splash of lime juice
Ginger Beer
Put a bunch of ice cubes in a tall glass, add bourbon and the splash of lime juice and then fill with the ginger beer. You’re supposed to garnish with mint leaves but Andy said mint leaves are for pussies, so that’s completely up to you.

Sounds like a great book! I haven’t read the new one yet, but I really enjoyed “Waiting in the Wings.” Of course, I like first person novels, and I LOVE theater, so it was in my wheelhouse. I was very surprised that WITW was Melissa’s first novel. It was very, very polished and mature. I’d highly recommend it.
